Popular Wall Colors That Match Modern Interior

Before you start picking a shade of color for your room with modern interior, it is important to understand that there are different types of modern interior. Yes, you read right,  you should choose a wall color not based on popular wall colors that match the type of modern interior you have in your space:

Industrial Modern

This type of interior, inspired by the ‘coal-filled’ era, is best accompanied by darker wall colors. Given that an industrial modern look might give off a more serious, business-y vibe than a cozy one, typically an industrial modern look is perfect for offices and work spaces. A winning industrial modern look works well with wall colors such as charcoal, dark Gray or white and a matte finish.

Mid-century Modern

Most mid-century modern homes have their walls covered in colors like eggshell or milky white. This is because these colors allow the extravagant furniture (which is a part of mid-century modern interior) to be the center of attention. If you are the type who wants to really make their carefully hand picked furniture pop, then a matte finish white or eggshell is definitely the way to go.

An absence of bright colors on your walls will ensure you ace your mid-century modern interior.

Modern

Minimalistic is the new modern. With minimal decorations around the house, you might want to make sure that the paint has fine lines and that your room follows a neutral color scheme.

For example, if you are painting an accent wall, you might want to choose Benjamin Moore’s Ice Mist as it has a crisp and clean finishing. Alternatively, if you feel your space is lacking the required color and warmth in your home you could opt for Savory Beige as it adds just enough color in your wall to give them warmth. Regardless of what you end up deciding just don’t overdo it.

Rustic Modern

Rooms with furniture that follows the ‘rustic modern’ style tend to usually be dominated by a large number of wooden items. To make sure that your wall color accentuates these items instead of overpowering it, you might want to lean towards softer tones of paint colors.

But, the color you choose also depends on the type of wooden details you have in your room.

  1. Gray : Perfect for weathered wood ceilings and/or soft and blonde wood tone.
  2. White: This is an amazing choice for wood trim. However, you should remember to stay away from flashy white.
  3. Beige, tan and ivory: These colors work fantastically with both dark and light shades of wood. The dark color can also add an effect of contrast with the trim.
  4. Sea-salt: This is a color that is basically light blue with hints of gray undertones. This color works well with medium-toned walnut, and also gives your house a chic look.

Scandinavian Modern

To bring out the best of Scandinavian modern in your room (while maintaining its elegance of course!), you might want to use lighter colors like milky whites, soft grays and vaporous blues with a glossy finish.
